Relational Contracting November 1998
This paper is based on one prepared as part of work by New Zealand government officials on government-voluntary sector relationships. The paper considers trust as the single most important factor in reducing costs and improving effectiveness in government funding of community services, and the benefits of relational contracting over conventional transactional contracting. The ideas are drawn from business and applied to social services.
